The Mid-Columbia Science and Engineering Fair is put on each year by the MCSF Association. We are a group of volunteers who donate our time and effort to make sure young scientists in our community/region have a chance to express their creativity. Running the fair takes more volunteers than you may think.
Beginning months before the fair, volunteers are working on fundraising and organization of activities. The day of the fair sees our biggest turn-out of volunteers in the form of judges. Our judges strive to provide positive feedback as professional role models. Our overall goal is to encourage students to pursue STEM education and professions. In order to give every student a fair chance to express themselves we currently recruit more than 100 judges for fair day. If you think you may like to help out with the fair, please contact us.
Volunteering Opportunities:
- Board Members – head up major tasks such as fundraising, judging, setup, registration, etc.
- Judges – if you have a background in science, engineering, health, agriculture or food sciences and can donate your time for a day then maybe you can help us as a judge.
- Fundraising – the fair is supported entirely by donations from organizations and individuals. We are always looking for not only new sources of donations but also for people who are willing to help us raise money.
- Countless Others – don’t think you can fit in yet? Well putting on the fair takes the skills of many others too numerous to name.
We can always use more help to make things run better; setting up the fair, taking down the fair, setting up the awards ceremony, preparing the awards… These are all jobs taken on by our many volunteers.
If you would like to help please let us know. For all those who already do, we can never say it enough, thank you!
