FlipGrid Videos & Project Numbers
We’ve been getting some questions about FlipGrid & Project Numbers. We’ve set up the MCSF FlipGrid Site so that your video will automatically be labeled with your Project Number. Log in to the MCSF FlipGrid Site at: https://flipgrid.com/6d5de790 using the same username you use for STEM Wizard. You’ll see your Project Number as your “Display Name” on the final “Post to Topic” page.
If you want to find your Project Number in STEM Wizard do these steps:
- Log in to your STEM Wizard account
- Click on your name in the upper right corner
- Click on “Profile”
Your Project Number is listed under your Project Information.
We look forward to seeing your project videos!
Email registration@midcolumbiasciencefair.org if you have any questions about uploading your project or entering your FlipGrid video.
Project Deadline Reminder: 3/2/22
The following items need to be completed by 9pm on Wednesday, March 2:
STEM Wizard Milestones: Online Fair Requirements, Additional Information, and Abstract
Project Overview Video in FlipGrid: The MCSF FlipGrid site is at: https://flipgrid.com/6d5de790 and your Student username is the same as the one you use to log in to STEM Wizard. It’s really helpful for the judges to hear you explaining your project in your own words! We have instructions and a tutorial video on how to record a video that includes your project slides on our virtual fair information page. It’s also ok to a record a short video of just you speaking about your project.
Email us at registration@midcolumbiasciencefair.org if you have any questions or run into technical issues with submitting your items for the fair. We look forward to seeing your projects! This deadline is firm because we need to get the projects ready for virtual judging. If your project isn’t complete by the deadline, please upload the parts of your slide presentation that you do have done and photos from your lab notebook and the Judges will evaluate and give you feedback on those items.
A word of advice: don’t wait until the last minute to complete these items!

High school students looking for an additional opportunity to present their independent research should check out the Washington State Junior Science and Humanities Symposium competition. JSHS invites high school students to report on the results of their original research investigations in STEM and compete for scholarships and recognition. All students in grades 9-12 enrolled in public, private, or home schools are eligible to participate in their local Regional Symposium. See Rules of Competition for eligibility details. This year’s Washington JSHS will be on February 19-20 in Bremerton, WA. Applications are due by January 31, 2022. For more information, see the WA JSHS website at: https://jshs.org/region/washington/
Judge registration is now open!
It’s that time of year again – we’re recruiting judges for the Mid-Columbia Regional Science and Engineering Fair. We need all types of STEM professionals as judges. This includes, for example, health practitioners, food scientists and agronomists as well as all types of scientists and engineers.
Due to the ongoing COVID situation we will again be holding this year’s fair in a virtual format. The first round of judging will be done asynchronously between March 5-8 based on materials students will submit electronically including slide presentation PDFs, excerpts from lab notebooks, and a 3-minute video. We will also be holding panel Judge interviews for the final round of the high school divisions over Zoom on the afternoon of Thursday, March 10. If you could be available for the Zoom interviews, please indicate that during registration. We will offer training on using STEM Wizard and our online judging process in late February. The training modules will also be posted on our website.
More details about the schedule and guidelines for judging are available on the MCSF website at https://www.midcolumbiasciencefair.org/judges.
We are again using STEM Wizard for the judging registration and viewing/ranking of student projects. To start the registration process, visit the link below:
